| Hellisandur
is a typical coastal village. It is thought to have been the first densely
populated settlement in Iceland. A variety of local artefacts date from
the earliest habitation. At the eastern edge of the village is Keflavík
undir Jökli (Keflavík under the glacier), a fisherman´s launch and landing
spot for centuries. Farther to the east are Bali and the sea cliffs
Keflavíkurbjarg. Snæfellsjökull dominates the view from Hellisandur.
Daylight reaches here year-round and very beautiful sunsets are seen
when the sun sinks beneath the horizon of Breiðarfjörður. |

persons), providing accommodation for 50 people. All sleeping facilities
are en-suite with a television and hairdryer. The health centre, Heilsulind, is situated in the Hotel and includes a sauna, sun beds and a gym. The Hotel has a special hall that is fully equipped for holding meetings or conferences, i.e. an excellent sound system, Internet connections, a projector and a ThinkPad laptop computer.
