The Western Fjords are one of the most breathtakingly beautiful and least visted corners of Iceland.
The western fjords form the most westerly part of Iceland and geologically are very old.
The mountains are high and the coastline indented by deep narrow fjords.At the foot of the cliffs you can see seals basking in the sun and whales are often seen off shore. There is an area of hot springs near Reykjanes at the south eastern end of Isafjordur. The town is surrounded by mountains and the sea.
