Whale Watching

Amongst the Worlds great oceans, the North Atlantic covers thousands of miles of sea separating Europe from North America, teeming with bird and marine life of every shape and form. Below the surface, dolphins, seals, porpoises and a countless variety of fish ply the hidden depths, a home shared with the mighty whale, the Worlds largest creature. Above, the skies echo with the cries of an array of seabirds; Fulmars, Puffins, Razorbills, Blackbacks, Kittywakes, Gannet and several other varieties of colourful and attractive species. A number of excursions are offered in Iceland to see the whales and other creatures. The main locations are; - Keflavik harbour where the whale watching base is located - The snaefelssnes coasts where you are most likely to see the Blue whales - and Husavik, home of the International whale centre when during the whale season Although actually seeing a whale is never certain, most of the tours do actually have 95% whale sighting rate making it very likely. When out on the excursions you will need to wear waterproof clothing and a hat. Also remember to take a camera and plenty of film so that you may take back the memories of your wonderful experience home. On the Snaefelssnes coast you are most likely to see bottlenose dolphins, Blue whales, Killer Whales and Humpback whales whilst in Husavik the Minki whales and Fin whales are most common. The whale season starts around mid April and finishes in October.
Excursions which last approx. 3 hours + cost around £18 per person
