Iceland 2026 Solar Eclipse on a Budget

What you'll do

• Return flights from the UK (10–14 August 2026)

• 4 nights in a centrally located Reykjavík hotel with breakfast

• Time to explore Iceland at your own pace

• Solar eclipse viewing on 12 August (independent, but plenty of local options available)

Day 1 – 10th August: Arrival in Reykjavík
Fly from the UK to Keflavík International Airport. Transfer independently (or add on an airport transfer) to your hotel in Reykjavík. Settle in and enjoy an evening stroll through Iceland’s vibrant capital — perhaps dine at a cosy restaurant or try fresh fish by the harbour.

Day 2 – 11th August: Explore Reykjavík or Take a Day Tour
Spend the day discovering Reykjavík’s highlights: Hallgrímskirkja Church, Harpa Concert Hall, and the Old Harbour. Or, if you’re keen to explore further, join an optional excursion to the Golden Circle or South Coast for geysers, waterfalls, and black sand beaches.

Day 3 – 12th August: Solar Eclipse Day
The big event! Today, Iceland will witness the rare 2026 solar eclipse. Head to one of the many prime viewing spots around Reykjavík or join a local excursion (optional) for the best vantage point. Don’t forget your eclipse glasses for safe viewing. After the spectacle, celebrate in town — many locals and visitors alike will be marking the occasion.

Day 4 – 13th August: Relax or Add On Adventures
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before exploring more of Reykjavík at your own pace. You could visit the Blue Lagoon (pre-booking recommended), go whale watching from the harbour, or take a day trip to the volcanic Reykjanes Peninsula.

Day 5 – 14th August: Departure
After breakfast, make your way back to Keflavík Airport for your flight home, filled with memories of Iceland and this once-in-a-lifetime celestial event.
